History of the Grama Panchayat

Kaipamangalam Grama Panchayat, which comes under Mathilakam Block in Thrissur district, has considerable historical significance. Located between Kodungallur and Triprayar, the region witnessed the military expeditions of Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore.

The major historical milestones of Kaipamangalam Panchayat are as follows:

• Presence of Tipu Sultan: Tipu Sultan and his army had camped in this region. Kacheripparambu, also known as Koprakkalam in Kaipamangalam, was used as a military camp and a military court during that period. The place came to be known as “Kacheri” because Tipu Sultan’s court functioned there.
• Formation of the Panchayat: The first Panchayat committee was formed in 1951. At that time, members of the governing committee were elected through a show of hands.
• Administrative Changes: Following the 1962 village reorganization, Kaipamangalam village became part of Kodungallur Taluk.
• History of Education: One of the major educational institutions in the area, Kaipamangalam Government Fisheries Vocational Higher Secondary School, has a history of more than 100 years.

Kaipamangalam is a village in Thrissur district of Kerala. According to the 2011 Census, the population of Kaipamangalam was 35,626, comprising 16,290 males and 19,336 females.
